Preferred observation points

To make sure you get the most out of the eclipses, the various regional and local authorities have identified a number of recommended viewing spots. These are venues that offer ideal conditions in terms of visibility, accessibility and the capacity to accommodate people safely.

Over the coming weeks, we will be adding new locations. For this reason, the information and the official map may be subject to periodic changes and updates.

However, it is important to remember that these are not the only places from which you can enjoy the phenomenon. If your location lies within the path of totality and you have a clear view of the western horizon (in the case of the eclipse on 12 August 2026), the best place to view the eclipse is right where you are.

Avoiding unnecessary travel helps us all to ensure road safety and avoid overcrowding. Check the route planner to confirm whether your current location is suitable before planning a journey.
